Did you know that approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters in the United States every year? Some are lost, some are neglected or abused, some are unwanted puppies or perhaps even more tragically abandoned seniors, and many never had a home to begin with. Of those 3.3 million frightened souls, about 2.6 million find their way out through return to their owners, placement in rescues, and permanent adoption. That leaves almost 700,000 who do not. And that's 700,000 too many.
At Winter Dog Cellars, we love dogs. In fact, we're named in honor of our founders' two dogs. They've been blessed with a safe and loving home and have returned those blessings tenfold to us, a little bit of magic that any happy dog can do if they only have the chance.
We want to give all dogs a chance to work their magic. And we back that commitment with by donating a portion of our revenue to deserving rescue organizations here in the Washington, DC area. It's our little way of earning our beer and hopefully leaving the world a slightly gentler and happier place.
"She is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are her life, her love, her leader. She will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of her heart. You owe it to her to be worthy of such devotion" -- unknown author.
